Commercial Financial Analyst

About the role
SmartSign is seeking a Commercial Finance Analyst who will join our Strategy and Finance teams. As a Commercial Finance Analyst, you will support our organization by partnering with leadership across sales, advertising, operations, finance, product management and corporate development and be responsible for creating, enhancing, and maintaining reporting and analysis across our organization.
This role requires that you be a proactive and action-oriented self-starter who can effectively navigate ambiguity and manage competing objectives in a lean, fast-paced organization. You will conduct detailed industry and market research with the opportunity to present key insights. You will also aid in the development and rollout of operational processes to increase our efficiency and to support/enhance data capture for more robust and accurate reporting and analytics. Your work will directly support the strategic vision and active initiatives within the organization.
Responsibilities
Data structuring and cleaning
  • Structure data sets for analysis, including cleaning and manipulating large datasets
  • Combine data sources to enable improved analytics
  • Work with functional groups to understand data nuances to ensure accuracy of analytics

Data analysis
  • Build and maintain business intelligence dashboards supporting core commercial and financial metrics
  • Empower end-users through building capabilities across the organization to enable user-driven analytics
  • Develop financial models for budgeting and forecasting
  • Create pricing and profitability analytics
  • Support new product development through market opportunity assessment
  • Create customer ‘live review’ analytics
  • Develop inventory models to support supply planning
  • Analyze value chain of product lines to support make vs. buy decisions
  • Run cohort analyses to understand comparative value of customer groups
  • Assess customer payback on an ongoing basis
  • Conduct other ad hoc analysis
Interpretation and insights
  • Identify new opportunities to improve data management and usage
  • Derive and communicate key insights from analytics dashboards
  • Report to management team on core operating (e.g. customer, commercial, ecommerce, financial) metrics
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Data Analytics and/or Finance from a leading College or University
  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical role (e.g. financial analyst, data analyst, management consultant)
  • Advanced technical skills across Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Business Intelligence Tools (such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to determine trends and propose solutions
  • Project management experience, ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with strong organizational and documentation skills
